The Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback. But I’m also smart enough to realize the advantage as well.Īnyway…watch the video and consider subscribing to Froogle’s channel.

While it won’t replace my yoke, rudder pedals and even my throttles….it would make using my other components including the MCP Pro (auto-pilot module), EFIS, Radio stacks etc.

But I believe that when I do, it will also make some of my external hardware obsolete.

I’ve kicked around the idea of someday purchasing a VR headset. In the video below Froogle demonstrates just what is possible in the world of virtual reality and it is really amazing. I highly recommend subscribing to his YouTube channel. I’ve learned of many new products and features from these generally short weekly episodes. I especially look forward to is weekly FroogleSim News videos where he breaks down the happenings within the flight sim world. I’ve been a consumer of Peter’s content for many years and can honestly say that he truly knows his stuff. His instructional videos are some of the very best on all of YouTube. Froogle (aka Peter Wright) creates various YouTube videos mostly on the subject of flight simulation. Flying the PMDG 737NGX is by far my most immersive aircraft as I can control all my radios, auto-pilot functions, throttles, flaps, trim, lights and many other features all with my physical hands by flipping switches, pushing buttons or moving throttle levers.īelow you’ll find a video by Frooglesim. Depending on the aircraft I’m flying, I may only need to use my mouse to click switches a few times in the course of a flight. Some of my GoFlight hardware is 10+ years old. I own a large number of hardware controllers from GoFlight. Over the years we have seen a huge increase in the amount of external hardware developed to further enhance the simulation game play.

Period! This is why I was so critical of Bus Simulator 16 when it was released. You are attempting to fly a plane, drive a truck or drive a tractor with a mouse and keyboard. But if you are playing a simulation based game (like flight sim, truck sim, farm sim) and only using a keyboard and mouse….then you are not really playing a simulation based game. What I will say next may upset some people. Even back in the 1980’s on my Commodore 64 I used a joystick to control my airplane. I’ve actually NEVER played any simulation based game without some type of external controller. After all, that is what we want right?įor me, it is truly hard to predict just what the reality of virtual reality holds for us. Of the sim based titles I tend to play (flight sim, truck sim, farm sim) I’m thinking for the most part the technology discussed will help to create a higher level of immersion. I suppose it can be applied better to some and perhaps less to others. While the core substance of this post is mostly about flight simulation, most of what you will see/hear could certainly be applied to other simulation based games.
